March 18th, 6pm AKT - Leading up to the election for board directors, there will be a candidate forum. A great opportunity to hear from the candidates for the three open seats.

Today (March 1) is the last day for BBRSDA members to request paper ballots or opt out from participating in the 2022 Board election. BBRSDA members who do not request a paper ballot will be sent an electronic ballot, directed to the number associated with their S03T permit (unless they have already mailed in their Voter Information card providing updated contact information).

On Thursday Russia invaded Ukraine, leading the U.S. Treasury to announce “unprecedented and expansive sanctions against Russia.” The goal of these sanctions is to impose swift and severe economic costs on the Russian economy and financial system—both immediate and in the long-term.

Bristol Bay salmon processors are in dire need of workers for the upcoming season. More salmon are projected to return to Bristol Bay than ever before, unfortunately, this coincides with an extremely tight labor market. Alaska processors have ramped up efforts to hire domestic workers, but it may not be enough to get a sufficient labor pool for the 2022 season.
