BBRSDA has worked closely with regional tribal leaders, conservation groups, and other business partners to protect Bristol Bay, submitting extensive substantive comments to both the EPA and the US Army Corps of Engineers, fighting the project in court, and engaging with commercial fishermen.

2022 Bristol Bay Price & Fleet Services Snapshot: Results are in. We surveyed Bristol Bay fishermen on processor prices and services for the 2022 season. The results are a snapshot of last season in the Bay — all self-reported from the drifters (S03T). 

U.S. Senators Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan, both R-Alaska, and U.S. Representative Mary Peltola, D-Alaska, today applauded the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) announcement that it has approved the purchase of up to $119.5 million worth of Alaskan Sockeye and Pacific Groundfish, which will be distributed across the country through federal food assistance programs.

This program, called “Expanding RSW Service Capacity in Bristol Bay,” is designed to support existing RSW technicians to hire and train apprentices to help perform more maintenance and repairs to RSW systems of Bristol Bay drift boats. Grants up to $15,000 available for RSW companies to take on apprentices for the 2022 season.

The new product features an attractive window highlighting sockeye’s ruby-red color, prominent identification of the Bristol Bay origin, and a QR code which connects consumers to fishermen by bringing them to our Know Your Fisherman webpage.
