RFM Certification Opportunity for Direct Marketers

BBRSDA is excited to share that in partnership with the Responsible Fisheries Management (RFM) Certification program, we are offering the opportunity for Bristol Bay direct marketers to participate in a zero-cost, RFM Low-Risk Chain of Custody pilot. We are offering this free for your first year to the first six participants, which typically costs $600. Chain of Custody certificates are valid for three years with annual surveillance audits. Annual surveillance audit costs will be less than or equal to the certification fee of $600.

Why Get RFM Chain of Custody?

Many markets require an independent third-party certification. RFM was the first program to be benchmarked to the Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative (GSSI), and is one of the most credible and robust wild-capture sustainable seafood certification programs in the marketplace today.

This is your opportunity to use the Alaska RFM Certification logo or claim on your products and marketing materials. And, unlike other sustainable seafood certification programs, with RFM, there are ZERO logo fees for using the RFM logo. Plus, the ‘Alaska’ origin is featured...which as studies show, is essential and increases purchase.

Where is the RFM logo currently being used?

You can find RFM labeled products from Ocean Beauty, Peter Pan and Trident at various retailers (e.g. Costco, QFC, Town & Country & Safeway). And online @ Amazon. The RFM logo can also be found on Holland America’s six vessels that sail in Alaska, since a partnership was announced last year.  The RFM logo is also prominently featured in over 1,500 Walmart stores as part of their consumer seafood signage.
