CARES Covid Fisheries Relief Applications Open for AK and WA

Section 12005 of the CARES Act allocates funding to fisheries assistance for fishery participants who have been negatively affected by COVID-19. Round one of the program was completed earlier in 2021. Round 2 is now open for applications in AK and WA with OR expected to open this month.

The main eligibility requirement for this program is applicants must have incurred a greater than 35% loss in fishery participation gross revenue in 2020, as a direct or indirect result of COVID-19 (as compared to the prior 5-year average).

WA residents who fish in AK must apply to the WA program.

AK residents and fishermen who fish in AK but are residents of states that did not receive funding through this program can apply for assistance from the AK program. (States that received Section 12005 funding are: AK, CA, HI, OR, and WA).
