Nushagak Harvest Record!!

Yesterday’s harvest of 1,773,000 sockeye salmon in Bristol Bay’s Nushagak District was the largest single-day harvest ever recorded, narrowly eclipsing the previous record set on June 30, 2018. This year's Bristol Bay sockeye harvest stands at 6.5 million fish, 24% ahead of the previous five-year average through June 30.

The abundance of wild salmon in Bristol Bay is simply epic. The last five years have produced the largest sockeye salmon harvests of any period in the fishery’s history, which dates back to 1884 - all while meeting escapement goals to ensure future runs remain healthy.

There has never been a more critical moment to protect Alaska’s greatest salmon resource. All we must do is continue being good stewards for the resource. We encourage everyone who loves wild salmon and Bristol Bay to contact the EPA and urge them to initiate 404c protections for the world’s greatest wild salmon run. NOW is the time!
