Dillingham Updates Emergency Order on Travel and COVID-19 Safeguards

On April 2nd changes from Dillingham’s updated Emergency Order will go into effect. The switch from EO 1.1 to EO 2.0 changes numerous things while retaining important Covid safeguards.

In brief, it removes the mandatory travel quarantine for vaccinated persons and persons who have recovered from a previous Covid infection. It also exempts them from the requirement of a pre-arrival negative Covid test. Unvaccinated persons must obtain a negative COVID test within 3 days before arrival and once in Dillingham they must quarantine for 7 days with another negative test taken on the 5th day or later or 10 days with no second test.

Summary:

  • Proof of fully vaccinated status, or recovery from previous Covid infection, must be available for inspection upon arrival or upon request.

  • No person currently infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus or any variant may travel to Dillingham

until they are cleared from isolation, or otherwise authorized by a medical professional, or have been remanded to the custody of the State of Alaska Department of Corrections.

  • Travel notification forms are required for anyone coming from outside of the City of Dillingham and Kanakanak Beach. The Travel Notification Form is available on the City of Dillingham website.

  • Face Coverings: All persons must wear a face covering over their noses and mouths when they are indoors in public settings or communal spaces outside the home where physical distancing is not possible and in all places of business. CDC says that a face covering with two or more layers of washable, breathable fabric is best. However, single-layer cloth, or other CDC-recommended face coverings, are allowed.

  • Any person who is, or who tests, positive for COVID-19 while in Dillingham shall immediately self-isolate and monitor for signs of sickness.

  • Organizations based in the City of Dillingham may establish Covid-safety rules that exceed, and do not reduce, these EO 2.0 requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, schools, private businesses, and nonprofit organizations.

Please read the full Emergency Order for complete details, definitions, and enforcement information.

The Emergency Order 2.0 remains in effect unless and until otherwise amended or superseded by the City Manager or City Council. Please check back for the most recent information before making your travel plans.
