BBRSDA Board Election Notice & Call for Nominations

The BBRSDA has begun its 2021 election process for two expiring terms on the organization’s Board of Directors. A letter providing notice of the election and a call for nominations has been mailed to all BBRSDA members. The two seats up for election are:

Seat B - Alaska Resident - seat currently held by Tim Cook
Seat E - Non-Alaska Resident - seat currently held by Michael Jackson

The full board consists of seven (7) elected seats reserved for permit holders in participating gear groups, currently limited to driftnet permit holders (S03T).  These seven (7) elected seats are allocated according to residency:  three (3) seats for Alaska residents; two (2) seats for non-residents of Alaska; and two (2) open residency seats.

The member-elected volunteer board provides financial and policy guidance for the Association and oversees management of the BBRSDA.  The election process is conducted under the terms of the Association’s bylaws and is independently monitored by the accounting firm, Thomas, Head & Greisen, Inc.  BBRSDA’s bylaws are posted at https://www.bbrsda.com/governance.

Call for Nominations:  With this notice, the board is soliciting nominations for election to the board.  Qualified permit holders may nominate themselves or be nominated by fellow permit holders.  Eligible nominees are S03T interim-use and limited entry permit holders as of December 15, 2020 as determined by the Alaska Commercial Fisheries Entry Commission.

See https://www.bbrsda.com/elections for more information about the 2021 board election and nomination requirements. Board seat winners will be announced no later than May 13, 2021 and begin their three-year term at the June 2021 board meeting.
