July 11 - Bristol Bay Harvest Charts

The 2021 Bristol Bay sockeye harvest stands at 28.7 million fish through July 11. The Nushagak District is well above the average harvest, while Naknek-Kvichak and Ugashik are about equal to the previous 5-year average. Egegik is slightly behind its average harvest. In general, the pace of harvests has softened over the past several days (except Ugashik). However, some big Port Moller catches have been registered within the past week, so the expectation is that there’s still plenty of harvest yet to come.

The charts below illustrate the cumulative harvests through the previous day, compared to the prior five-year average for Bristol Bay as a whole and by fishing district (note: Togiak is excluded because data is often confidential, leading to incomplete time series). Also, we encourage fishermen and those in communication with them to check out the Daily Updates from University of Washington’s Alaska Salmon Program. These are available in PDF form and you can find them here. The UW’s Daily Updates provide even more data about catch, escapement, run timing, and progression of the Port Moller Index.
